Exhibition Stand Iceland
Custom Exhibition Booth Design & Build for Reykjavik
Exhibition Stand Iceland - Echo Expo
Iceland’s exhibition market is small and specialized, built around a handful of genuine strengths: geothermal and renewable energy, fisheries technology, and tourism. It’s also one of the more remote and expensive freight destinations in Europe, sitting outside the EU (though inside the EEA). Means both logistics planning and customs treatment need extra attention compared to a mainland European show.
Planning for a Remote Market
Almost everything arrives by sea or air, with fewer freight options and longer transit times than continental Europe. Contingency planning matters more here than almost anywhere else on this list. We ship materials well ahead of schedule and build in buffer time that would be excessive for a German or French show but is simply necessary for Iceland.
Where We Build
- Laugardalshöll, Reykjavik — Iceland's main exhibition and events venue, hosting trade fairs, consumer events, and conferences.
- Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre — used for conference-led exhibitions, particularly in energy and technology.
Customs & Freight
As an EEA member outside the EU, Iceland requires customs declarations for shipments, similar to Norway and Switzerland. An ATA Carnet is the standard route for temporary import of reusable stand structures. We recommend starting logistics planning at least 12 weeks ahead, given both customs processing and remote freight schedules.
Working with Icelandic Teams
- Business culture is informal and direct, with flat hierarchy similar to other Nordic markets.
- Punctuality is expected, though the overall business community is small and highly networked.
What We Deliver
- Bespoke and modular stand design
- Remote freight planning and contingency stock
- Customs and ATA Carnet coordination
- Installation, on-site technical support, and dismantling
Industries Exhibiting in Iceland
Geothermal and renewable energy, fisheries technology, tourism, and data center services make up the bulk of Iceland’s exhibition traffic. We’ve supported exhibitors across each of these, with particular experience in energy-sector stand builds requiring accurate technical claims.
Recent Work Across Europe
- A geothermal energy stand at Harpa Reykjavik for a European renewable energy exhibitor.
- A fisheries technology booth at Laugardalshöll for a Nordic equipment manufacturer.
Cost Considerations for Exhibiting in Iceland
The biggest cost levers for a Iceland project are booth size, custom versus modular construction, and lead time. We recommend starting at least 12 weeks out. Booking later than that doesn’t just risk delays, it typically means paying more for rushed production, expedited freight, or last-minute labor. If Iceland is one of several shows on your calendar this year, a modular stand designed for reuse is usually the more cost-effective route over the full season, even though a single custom build can look cheaper on paper for one event.
Preparing for Your First Show in Iceland
First-time exhibitors in Iceland get the most value out of the process by coming to the initial consultation with a few things already settled: your booth’s confirmed dimensions from the show organizer, any brand guideline documents for graphics. A rough sense of whether this is a one-off show or the start of a recurring presence in the region. That last point matters more than it sounds. It changes whether we recommend a custom build or a modular system designed for reuse. The earlier we know your full show calendar, the more we can plan freight and fabrication to serve more than just this one event.
Delivering into Iceland. Stands for Iceland are built in our Milan and Casablanca workshops and shipped north on the routes we already run for Sweden and Norway. One team sees the project through from drawing to dismantle. Among recent European builds: a 40 m² stand at Heimtextil, Messe Frankfurt and six stands at one Vitafoods Europe edition in Barcelona. More sits on recent projects, with build photography under production photos. Tell us the show, the size and the hall for an itemised quotation.

– Exhibiting in Iceland
Which venues do you cover in Iceland?
Laugardalshöll, Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre, and other venues on request.
Do we need customs clearance even though Iceland is in the EEA?
Yes. Iceland is outside the EU. Customs declarations are required. An ATA Carnet is the most efficient route for reusable materials.
How early should we start planning?
At least 12 weeks ahead, given remote freight schedules and customs processing.

Exhibition stands in Iceland — common questions
Do you build exhibition stands in Iceland?
Yes. We design and fabricate in our own workshops in Milan, Italy and Casablanca, Morocco, then ship in and install with our own team. The same people handle design, production, freight, installation and dismantling, so there is one point of contact throughout.
How do freight and customs work for Iceland?
Iceland is in the EEA but outside the EU customs union, so customs formalities do apply even for goods leaving an EU country. We handle the declarations, and because everything arrives by sea or air the freight window is the main planning constraint.
How far in advance should we plan a stand in Iceland?
Allow six months for a standard build and nine months for anything above 50 sqm or with heavy structural elements. Because freight to Iceland goes by sea or air rather than road, the shipping window is the binding constraint and it is fixed at design stage rather than left to the final weeks.
Can you build if we already have a design?
Yes. We work from your approved 3D design, or design from a brief. Either way we produce the technical layouts the venue needs for organiser approval, and we quote each element separately so nothing appears as an extra during build-up.
