A 36 m² stand for MEDTRUM at the 58th EASD Annual Meeting, Stockholmsmässan, 19–23 September 2022. It was delivered by the team that now designs and fabricates under the Echo Expo name.
The project
The European Association for the Study of Diabetes holds the largest diabetes congress in Europe. The 2022 edition was its 58th, held at Stockholmsmässan and drawing more than 11,000 delegates. MEDTRUM makes diabetes technology — insulin delivery and continuous glucose monitoring — and exhibits alongside the largest names in the field.
Two stands at the same congress
We built two stands at EASD 2022: this one, and a stand for EVA Pharma in the same halls. Two clients, one congress, one crew, one delivery — the same shared-journey economics as our concurrent Fiera Milano builds, and the same scheduling discipline required to make it work.
A medical congress is not a trade fair
The audience is clinicians and researchers moving between sessions, not buyers walking aisles with a shopping list. That produces a different traffic pattern and a different brief:
- Everything happens in the breaks. The floor is empty during sessions and overwhelmed between them, so the stand must absorb a crowd in twenty minutes and be legible at a glance
- Regulated content. Medical device and pharmaceutical messaging is controlled, approved late, and differs by territory — so graphics must be replaceable without rebuilding the structure
- Demonstration, not display. A glucose monitor is understood by being handled and shown working, which means power, secure mounting and somewhere to stand and explain
- Quiet conversations. Clinicians ask detailed questions they do not want overheard, so a stand of this size still needs a defined seated area rather than an open counter alone
Why it matters
This adds diabetes technology and medical devices to our record, and Stockholmsmässan to our venues — a second Swedish venue alongside Svenska Mässan in Gothenburg, and a second Stockholm project alongside our rail industry work.
It also strengthens the deepest sector in our record. Between CPHI, EASD, AMWC, Vitafoods, IAS and the EVA Pharma congresses, pharmaceutical and medical is the industry we have built most often.

Do you build at EASD and other medical congresses?
Yes. EASD, CPHI, AMWC, Vitafoods and IAS are all in our record. Congress organisers run tighter build schedules than trade fairs, so tell us the dates early.
Our regulatory approval for graphics comes late. Can you work with that?
Yes, and the design should anticipate it. Building graphics as replaceable panels in a fixed frame means artwork can be signed off far later than the structure without risking the build.
