An exhibition stand for SAVOIR at the Monaco Yacht Show, Port Hercule, 28 September – 1 October 2022. It was delivered by the team that now designs and fabricates under the Echo Expo name.
The project
SAVOIR make beds by hand, to order. Their audience at the Monaco Yacht Show is not a retail buyer: it is owners, captains, brokers, naval architects and interior designers specifying the cabins of a yacht that will not be delivered for two years.
A show staged on a working port
The Monaco Yacht Show is not held in an exhibition hall. It is built along the quays of Port Hercule, in temporary structures, around the superyachts themselves. That changes the build in ways a hall never does.
- Access is tight and timed. A port is not a loading bay; delivery windows are short and vehicle movements are controlled
- Everything is exposed to a marine environment during build-up — salt air, damp and the possibility of rain on components that are meant to look furniture-grade
- Finish tolerance is unforgiving. The stand sits a few metres from vessels finished to the highest standard in the world. A visible joint or a scuffed edge is noticed immediately
The answer to all three is the same: build it properly in the workshop and take it to Monaco finished. Anything that needs making good on the quay will look like it was made good on the quay.
Selling a bed without a bedroom
The obvious approach — put the product on the stand — does not work here. A bed consumes the whole footprint, and a bed on a show floor looks like a showroom, which is the wrong register for a commission that begins with a conversation about a cabin that does not exist yet.
So the stand was built as a room rather than a display: fitted timber shelving carrying materials and finishes, a glazed display cabinet for the detail pieces that justify the price, a wall-mounted screen, and a seated meeting corner with a table. The materials do the selling, and the seating makes the conversation possible.
Why it matters
This adds superyacht and luxury interiors to our record, and a second Monaco project alongside our work at AMWC. It is also one of the few projects in the record built outside a conventional exhibition hall, which is a useful thing to have done.

Show the materials, the detail and the craftsmanship, and spend the floor area on somewhere to sit and talk. For a commissioned product the meeting is the sale; the object is only the proof.
