Rail and nuclear, not just Paris
Two of these are sectors most stand builders never touch. SIFER in Lille is the French rail industry fair, where the visitors are infrastructure managers and track engineers who arrive with a list and will not stop for a stand that cannot show them the product. WNE at Paris Nord Villepinte is the world nuclear exhibition, where the exhibitor documentation is heavier than the stand.
Both were designed, fabricated, freighted, installed and dismantled by our own team.
Lille Grand Palais is a city-centre venue, and that changes the build
Paris Nord Villepinte and Porte de Versailles are purpose-built exhibition grounds with proper docks. Lille Grand Palais is in the middle of the city — delivery slots are short and there is nowhere to park a trailer while you think.
So everything that can be finished off site is finished off site: paint, dimensional cut lettering, counters and shelving arrive complete. The less that has to be made on site, the less exposed the build is to a missed window.

The rule most foreign contractors miss when building in France
If your stand is built by a crew from outside France, there is a legal step that has nothing to do with stand design. Workers posted to French soil must be declared in advance through the SIPSI portal, and it has been the only permitted method since 2016.
The exhibitor is responsible too, not only the contractor, and you must be given a copy of the declaration. If it has not been filed, the labour inspectorate can suspend work on your stand or cancel your participation in the show.
It costs nothing and takes minutes. Missed, it can stop a build on the weekend before opening, with the hall closing around you and no way to finish. Ask any contractor quoting you for a French show whether they file it — the answer tells you quickly how often they actually build in France.
What French venues ask that others do not
- Stand designs go to an appointed assessor for approval, typically around six weeks before the show, with dimensioned plans and elevations
- Every side facing an aisle usually needs a minimum open percentage — only low elements under about a metre, or genuinely mobile ones, count as opening
- A raised floor over 2 cm that the public steps onto requires an accessibility ramp, integrated into your own stand area rather than projecting into the aisle
- Hall floors, walls and pillars may not be drilled, painted or coated, and you are charged for damage — so floor protection during installation is standard practice, not an optional extra
- Anything hung from the hall structure is installed by the venue’s own technical teams, ordered well in advance, with a stability report
- Trucks are generally not permitted inside the pavilions, and vehicles must be pre-registered on the venue’s access platform
